Midwifery

WomanWise Midwifery

WomanWise was birthed as a labor of love in 1987. I was drawn into midwifery through the births of my own  children, and the births of my grandchildren are what keep me on this path, as well as the other women and families WomanWise serves.
I am committed to compassionate, women-centered care in which both midwife and mother are actively engaged in the decision-making process. I believe that pregnancy and birth are healthy and normal events in a woman’s life. As a midwife I offer my skills, experience and  attention as well as my deep trust in and respect for the birth process. I feel that it is my honor and responsibility to nurture and hold the space for the women I serve so that they can do the work of birth during their journeys into motherhood.

I recognize that during pregnancy,  women experience  physical, emotional, social and spiritual changes, and it is my intention to support women and families in this time of transformation. Women are encouraged to ask questions, gain understanding and make the best decisions for their care throughout pregnancy and birth.

It is my hope that in doing so, women will discover the power and potential that birth holds, and carry it with them throughout their lives. I also believe that we need more midwives in this country and so I am committed to the apprenticeship model of midwifery training and to working with students in my practice.

With your permission and under supervision, a student will participate in your care throughout your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum period.
